Type Locality and Naming

Along the Shordji area on the Ustyurt. A.M. Akramkhodzhaev et al., 1970 (46, p.31). It is distinguished as the Shordzhin rhythmic Fm and corresponds to the II and III productive horizons (Urchin Horizon).

Synonym: Shordzhin Suite, Шорджинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Clays, which in the lower part are greenish-gray (p. I), in the upper part - brownish-red (p. II). Thickness 80-530m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies with erosion on the Kafaklin Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by the Shakhpakhtin Fm or Aibugir Fm.

Regional extent

It is attributed to the Kugitang Horizon (252).
